We are proud to partner with these local farms and suppliers:
Produce
Blackbird Organics: Is owned and operated by Kagen Dewey and Elise Magnant. Kagen and Elise have been farming in Plainfield since 2018 on leased land at Littlewood Farm. With the addition of their very own farm property on Maple Hill in 2023, they are excited to make Plainfield/Marshfield their permanent home and continue supplying healthy produce to our community.
Robin Taylor: Grows the famous Musk Melons a.k.a. Cantaloupes as well as Jubilee Tomatoes, and Head Lettuce. She has been providing produce for the Co Op for decades (I’ll wager). She farms in Marshfield.
Friends and Neighbors Farm: Farmer G grows Cucumbers for us and provides beautiful plant starts. His farm is in Marshfield.
LePage Farm: Since the Civil War, Le Pages have been farming their land in Barre Town. Who even knows how many generations that is? I guess we could ask Alan, or Lila, his daughter who is now taking up the family trade.
Owl Hill Farm: Plainfield’s own Chris Thompson supplies the Co Op with fresh produce, whatever he has to spare after the busy Montpelier Farmer’s Market.
Harvest Hill Farm: Bill Half of Walden grows carrots, onions, tomatoes, and potatoes for the Co Op.
Green Mountain Harvest: Someone we can count to provide us with local Head Lettuce, Watercress, and Basil through the Winter. They are out of Waitsfield and their greenhouses are quite a sight, glowing beside the road up in the Mad River Valley.
East Hill Tree Farm: Plainfield’s Niko Rubin grows fruit trees up on East Hill. He brings us grapes, yummy grapes. And other fruit, if we’re lucky.
Berries: We have various local suppliers of berries. If you have berries, give us a call. We can never have enough!
Cheese
Sweet Rowen Farm: Located in Glover, Sweet Rowen Farm keeps a herd of Heritage Lineback cows. They provide the Co Op with delicious Farmer’s Cheese, Cheddar, Feta, Curds, and soft bloomy cheeses.
Neighborly Farms: An organic, solar powered farm out of Randolph, Neighborly Farms is a family run farm. They supply excellent cheddar and jack cheeses to the Co-op.
Lazy Lady Farm: Laini Fondilier has been farming since 1987. She uses organic techniques and produces amazing cheese. All off the grid, using solar and wind power. Look for her award-winning soft goat cheeses.
Jasper Hill Cellars: A working dairy farm in the NEK. They built cellars for aging their cheese and helping other small farmers age and store their cheese. We carry an array of their scrumptious cheeses.
Other Vermont Cheese Producers: Maple Brook Farms, Hildene Farms, Consider Bardwell Farm, Cabot Creamery, Blue Ledge Farm, Twigg Farm, Cobb Hill Community Farm, Blythdale Farm, Boston Post Dairy, Cate Hill Farm, Champlain Valley Creamery, Grafton Village Cheese Company, Vermont Creamery, Shelburne Farms, Von Trapp Farmstead, and Woodcock Farm.
Coffee
802 Coffee: Although we haven’t figured out how to grow coffee in Vermont, we do sell Coffee roasted right down the road in East Montpelier. Including our very own Breakfast Blend.
Brave Coffee: Roasted in Waterbury. Here by popular demand.
Carrier Roasting Company: Cofounded by a former employee, Carrier is our top of the line coffee. Roasted in Northfield, look on each bag to see the name of the farmers who work so hard to produce your morning brew.
Herbs
Foster Farm Botanicals: Located in Calais, Foster Farm supplies certified organic herbs to the Co Op, including: Nettles, Echinacea Root, and Raspberry Leaf.
