Our closing date on the purchase of Plainfield Hardware is planned for July 17th, 2024!
Here are the voting results on whether Plainfield Co-op should pursue purchasing Plainfield Hardware.
190 valid ballots cast (only Co-op members in good standing could vote)
82% voted Yes (156 votes)
18% voted No (34 votes)
A 2/3 majority is required for real estate issues, so the question passed.
While this result allows the Co-op to pursue the purchase of Plainfield Hardware, this is only the start of the project. Operations in the village will continue in the meantime.
There are also exciting ideas about future uses for the Co-op building in the village. Maybe we can find the best of both worlds- a larger Co-op store on Rt 2 and a lively community supported space in the village.
